UCSB Music Affiliates Offers Trips to Los Angeles Opera

Attend an opera and help raise money for music scholarships. The UCSB Music Affiliates have arranged five trips to the Los Angeles Opera, beginning in September.

The five performances are Aida, Sept. 11, La Boheme, Dec. 19, Giulio Cesare, March 2, 2001, Don Pasquale, April 24, 2001, and Tosca, June 22, 2001. Each performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Los Angeles Music Center. Seats are limited so early reservations are encouraged.

Costs are $100 per person for members of the Music Affiliates and $110 for non-members. A $25 deposit per person will reserve a spot. The excursion includes

round-trip motor coach transportation, gourmet box dinner with wine and water, and seating in the front balcony at the Los Angeles Music Center.

A portion of the ticket price, $25, will go toward the UCSB Music Affiliates Scholarship Fund.

The Music Affiliates are dedicated to strengthening relationships between UCSB and the greater Santa Barbara community, showcasing music students and faculty, and raising money for scholarships. Many of the 350 Music Affiliates households donate to the group's scholarship fund. Their generosity has allowed the community support group to give nearly $180,000 in scholarships to UCSB students since 1984.

For additional information, the Music Affiliates can be reached through the university's Community Relations Office, 893-4388.
