A week of activities celebrating the hard work and dedication of UC Santa Barbara’s staff members begins on Friday, May 1, with a Staff Social and Arts & Crafts Bazaar, and ends on May 8 with the Staff Luncheon.
Here’s a list of some of the events scheduled for Staff Celebration Week:
Staff Social and Spring Arts & Crafts Bazaar
Friday, May 1, 2-4 p.m., Recreation Center Pavilion Lawn. The 9th Annual Staff Social is hosted by the Academic Business Officers Group, the Chancellor’s Staff Advisory Council, the Professional Women’s Association and the Staff Assembly. Enjoy an afternoon of refreshments, live music and prize drawings. The Arts & Crafts Bazaar will feature staff artisans selling their handmade arts and crafts. Everyone who brings an item for the AS Food Bank will receive a ticket to enter a drawing for items made and donated by vendors.
Gaucho Family Pool Party
Saturday, May 2, 12:30-4:30 p.m., Recreation Center pool. The Department of Recreation and Gaucho Family Events are sponsoring UCSB’s first free staff and family pool party. There will be a disc jockey, prizes and food.
Staff Ice Cream Social
Monday, May 4, noon-1 p.m., Student Affairs and Administrative Services Building (SAASB) Courtyard. Senior campus administrators will be serving up ice cream for all who attend. Staff Assembly, which is sponsoring the event, would like to acknowledge Housing and Residential Services, Athletics and Furniture Services for helping to make this event possible.
Storke Tower Tour
Wednesday, May 6, noon-1 p.m. Enjoy views of the campus from the top of Storke Tower. This event is limited to 35 participants, so you must register in advance.
Staff Cookie Tasteoff
Thursday, May 7, noon, Student Resource Building (SRB) Multipurpose Room. An event featuring the best bakers among UCSB staff. To enter, send the name of your cookie and recipe to firstname.lastname@example.org or by mail at SHS/Mail Code 7002. On the day of the contest, bring a dozen or two of your cookie creation to the SRB for judging. Deadline for entry is May 1.
Concerts on the Green
Thursday, May 7, 4:30-6:30 p.m., Lagoon Lawn. Gaucho U presents a free concert for faculty, staff and their family members featuring live bands, food and a rock climbing wall.
Staff Luncheon, Staff Citation of Excellence Awards, Celebration Week Drawings
Friday, May 8, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Faculty Club Green. The Staff Luncheon features free food and includes the chance to win prizes. Winners of prizes donated by local businesses will be announced during the luncheon. You need not be present to win, but you must complete an entry form and return it before the deadline of Friday, May 1. In addition, 2015 Citation of Excellence Awardees will be announced during the luncheon.
