Gypsy melodies from Eastern and Central Europe as well as the flamenco of Spain and Andalucía will fill Hahn Hall at the Music Academy of the West when award-winning soprano Isabel Bayrakdarian performs a benefit concert for UC Santa Barbara’s Bel Canto Fund for Voice.

Bayrakdarian is a lecturer in the Department of Music, and the Bel Canto Fund supports student scholarships and the UCSB Opera Theater.

Accompanied by pianist Serouj Kradjian and flamenco guitarist Grish Boryachev, Bayrakdarian will explore gypsy flamenco influences in works by Franz Liszt, Antonín Dvorak, Robert Schumann, Manuel de Falla, Isaac Albeniz and Ernesto Lecuona.

The concert begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 20. Tickets are $10 for students, $30 for all others. More information is available at http://www.music.ucsb.edu.
