UC Santa Barbara to Host ‘Spring Insight’ Open House on April 9

UC Santa Barbara will welcome admitted and prospective students and their families to the campus during its annual "Spring Insight" open house on Saturday, April 9, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The daylong program features tours, lectures, and presentations that are designed to showcase what UC Santa Barbara has to offer undergraduate students.

The popular program is open to the public.

Registration is recommended, but not required.

Parking on campus in designated lots and parking structures will be free for participants between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

There will be presentations on financial aid, including UC's Blue and Gold Opportunity Plan, Housing and Residential Services, the Educational Opportunity Program, the Colleges of Creative Studies, Engineering, and Letters and Science, and more.

Admitted students and their families will have an opportunity to meet with a financial aid advisor.

Group financial aid sessions will be conducted throughout the day, including a session in Spanish.

Academic departments and student organizations will provide information and answer questions.

A housing fair will be held in Storke Plaza.

Student groups will provide entertainment.

In addition, faculty members will lecture on a variety of topics, which include "Music and Narrative in Hollywood Films"; "Something's Brewing in Arabia: A History of Coffee and Coffee Houses"; "The Consequences of Divorce and Interparental Conflict for Children"; and "Cracking the Underground Cyber Economy: A Botnet Takeover."

Student guides wearing yellow Spring Insight T-shirts will welcome and direct visitors, alongside staff members wearing blue UCSB polo shirts.
