Enriching Opportunities for People with Disabilities

Beach Accessible Wheelchair is Available for Public Use at Campus Point

With a grant from the California Coastal Commission, the Adapted Recreation Program at UC Santa Barbara has purchased a beach accessible wheelchair that is available for free public use at Campus Point.

To take advantage of this opportunity, call the program office at 805-448-6740.

The year-round Adapted Recreation Program serves children and adults with physical and developmental disabilities.

UCSB collaborates with local agencies and municipalities to provide expanded sports and recreational activities tailored to special needs of participants both on campus and in the surrounding region.

Scholarships are available for all clinics and camps.

Since the program began last summer with the Junior Wheelchair Sports Camp, participation has been strong.

Upcoming activities include hand cycling clinics on November 6 and 20, with additional clinics scheduled December through February of 2005.

A tandem hand cycling clinic for the visually impaired will be held on Feb. 5 and 19.

The cost of each clinic is $10.
