UC Santa Barbara Class of 2014
History & Cultural Anthropology Major
This June, I will be graduating with a double-major in history and cultural anthropology from UCSB (olé olé!). I cannot stress how much I loved my time at UCSB. In college, I participated in a sailboat pirate battle royale with Excursion Club, learned how to ballroom dance, participated in archaeology excavations on the Channel Islands and in Virginia, advocated for cancer research, led beach clean-ups, helped found two on-campus student organizations, presented at the Undergraduate Research Colloquium, surfed with dolphins, competed in a Hershey marketing case competition, and made friendships that will last a lifetime. UCSB taught me how to love myself, cultivate the habit of being grateful, become a leader, know when to ask for help, radiate “good vibes” and understand everyone has a unique story to tell—including myself. I cannot thank the Gaucho community enough for all the love, support and laughter I have soaked up in the Santa Barbara sunshine during my four years at UCSB. As a graduating senior, my greatest piece of advice is to explore your passions in college, and to never stop asking for what makes you happy. Until next time, Santa Barbara!
