Statement on the Tragedies in Gilroy, El Paso and Dayton

‘We continue to find strength in one another’

Dear Members of our Campus Community,

We all have been horrified and deeply saddened by the news of the recent shootings in Gilroy, California; El Paso, Texas; and Dayton, Ohio. Our hearts go out to the victims and their loved ones.

These tragic events have become all too frequent. As a campus community, we stand in solidarity against hate and violence. We come together once again to express our care, concern, and support for each other and for all those affected by these tragedies.

If you need support during this difficult time, please know that we are here for you. Counseling for students is available through CAPS at (805) 893-4411; for faculty and staff, through our Academic & Staff Assistance Program at (805) 893-3318.

As a caring and supportive community, we continue to find strength in one another, and we rededicate ourselves as a campus that values and respects our richly diverse community.
