Annual Staff Celebration Week features tours, social events and a free luncheon for all UC Santa Barbara staff members

A week’s worth of activities celebrating the hard work and dedication of UC Santa Barbara’s staff members begins Saturday, April 23 and ends Sunday, May 1. Highlights include a staff luncheon, a food truck fair and a carnival-themed social with games and prizes.

Among the events scheduled for Staff Celebration Week:

Staff Ice Cream Social

Monday, April 25, noon-1 p.m., Student Affairs and Administrative Services Building (SAASB) Courtyard. Senior campus administrators will be serving up ice cream for all who attend. Staff Assembly is sponsoring the event.

Staff Luncheon, Staff Citation of Excellence Awards, Celebration Week Drawings

Tuesday, April 26, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Faculty Club Green. The Staff Luncheon features a free taco bar and the chance to win prizes donated by local businesses. Winners will be announced during the luncheon. Staff members need not be present to win, but they must complete an entry form by April 22. There also will be a pottery and plant sale during the luncheon.

Storke Tower and Campus Architectural Tours

Wednesday, April 27, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. (architectural tour) and 12 p.m.-1 p.m. (Storke Tower tour). Explore the history and unique landscape of UCSB architecture on a tour led by campus architect Dennis Whelan, or enjoy views of the campus from the top of Storke Tower. These are just two of the many tours and special activities offered throughout the week.

Food Truck Fair

Thursday, April 28, noon, Campbell Hall Plaza. Enjoy food trucks from Santa Barbara and L.A. for lunch, including the Grilled Cheese Truck, Belly Bombz Food Truck, Kona Ice and more. Cash and credit cards accepted.

Staff Social Carnival and Spring Arts & Crafts Bazaar

Friday, April 29, 2-4 p.m., Recreation Center Pavilion Lawn. The 10th Annual Staff Social is hosted by the Academic Business Officers Group, the Chancellor’s Staff Advisory Council, the Professional Women’s Association and the Staff Assembly. Enjoy an afternoon of games, prizes and food with a carnival theme. The Arts & Crafts Bazaar will feature staff artisans selling their handmade arts and crafts. Everyone who brings an item for the AS Food Bank will receive a ticket to enter a drawing for items made and donated by vendors.

Gaucho Family Pool Party

Sunday, May 1, 1-4 p.m., Recreation Center pool. The Department of Recreation and Gaucho Family Events are sponsoring UCSB’s second annual free staff and family pool party, featuring fun, prizes and food.

Other events scheduled throughout the week include free admission to baseball and softball games, and free access to the Recreation Center for all staff members with ID.
