UCSB Extends Public Comment Period for Long-Range Plan, Reschedules Public Hearing

To better accommodate public interest in its draft Long Range Development Plan (LRDP), UC Santa Barbara has extended the public comment period by 45 days, until June 23.

In addition, a public hearing on the plan that was to have been held on April 29 has been rescheduled for Wednesday, June 4, at 7 p.m. at UCSB's Isla Vista Theater in Isla Vista. Directions to the facility are available on the LRDP Web site, www.UCSBVision2025.com.

The LRDP will help UC Santa Barbara plan its future to the year 2025. The release of the draft plan followed several years of work and presentations to 40 area neighborhood, civic and community organizations about UCSB's future plans.

Extensive information about the LRDP, its accompanying Environmental Impact Report (EIR) and the Vision2025 project is available at www.UCSBVision2025.com. Site visitors will find downloadable copies of the LRDP and EIR, summary information about the plan and details about the approval process. In addition, printed copies of the documents have been placed in local libraries.

Written comments on the plan must now be received by 5 p.m. June 23, 2008. Comments can be sent via email to info@UCSBVision2025.com, or by US Mail to University of California, Office of Planning & Design, c/o Vision 2025, Santa Barbara, CA 93106-1030.

The LRDP and EIR will proceed later this year to the UC Board of Regents and the California Coastal Commission for review and approval.
