The 10th Occasional Workshop on Environmental and Resource Economics will take place this month at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Made possible in part by a grant from the Environmental Protection Agency and sponsored by UCSB's Bren School of Environmental Science and Management, the conference will include participants from the United States and Canada.
The two-day conference begins at 8 a.m. on Friday, March 21, in the University Center's Corwin Pavilion and continues at 8 a.m. Saturday, March 22, in 1424 Bren Hall. Organized by Robert Deacon, a professor of economics, and Gary Libecap, a professor of environmental science and management at UCSB, the conference is free and open to the public. "What began as a small meeting among UC researchers 15 years ago has grown into one of the more prominent events nationwide for showcasing economic research on environmental and natural resource policy issues," said Deacon.
Focused on faculty members and researchers at universities, public and private institutes, and government agencies involved in research in environmental and natural resource economics, the program will give participants an opportunity to share findings from their research. Individual sessions will address issues related to economic aspects of climate change and discounting; environmental policy and voting; common pool resources; policy on invasive species; health and the environment; eco-labeling; and environmental policy and conservation.
