Duke and the Masters: The Sedgwick Collection

Flantes Portrait of an Infanta
Saturday, January 25, 2014 - 12:00 to Saturday, April 19, 2014 - 17:00
Art, Design & Architecture Museum
Alice and Francis (“Duke”) Minturn Sedgwick, based in the Santa Ynez Valley, used their vast wealth to assemble a collection of premier Old Master paintings.  In 1960 the Sedgwicks donated a core group of their collection to the then newly formed University Gallery at UC Santa Barbara, which later became the Art, Design & Architecture Museum.  This exhibition will highlight their gift of works and explore these important local figures as art lovers, philanthropists and individuals.  This exhibition has been curated by Montana Flynn ’14 Art History. The Art, Design & Architecture Museum is open Wednesday—Sunday, from noon–5 p.m. Admission is free.
