Students in UCSB College Receive Top Academic Honors

(Santa Barbara, Calif.) -- Four graduating seniors have been selected to receive awards for academic achievement from the College of Letters and Science at commencement exercises on June 12-13.

Those receiving divisional awards are:

Andrew Marc Griffin (of Hollister), anthropology, Luis Leal Social Sciences Award, presented to a student majoring in the social sciences; Brian Andrew Swartz (Simi Valley), biological sciences, the Colville-Dearborn Award, presented to a student majoring in the sciences; Michael Phillis (Woodland), dramatic art, William R. Reardon Award, presented to a student majoring in an arts or humanities discipline.

Arielle Gereboff (West Hills), French and linguistics, has been selected to receive the Daniel G.

Aldrich, Jr. Outstanding Senior Award for outstanding scholarship and contributions to the campus community.

The College of Letters and Science is the largest college at UCSB and the third largest in the UC system.

The college serves approximately 16,000 undergraduates and offers about 80 majors and over 30 minors.
