STUDENTS CONSIDERING UCSB URGED TO ATTEND CAMPUS PREVIEW

The University of California, Santa Barbara will open its campus to some 6,500 high school students, college transfer students and their families April 17-22 for the university's annual Spring Insight week.

The visitors will include high school seniors already accepted for enrollment by UCSB, younger high school students just beginning to consider their college options and college students looking to transfer to UCSB.

The event, which drew 6,120 visitors last year, is designed to show off the campus to potential students.

A program of campus events will be provided to each visitor.

A good starting point for each visit would be one of the UCSB general presentations given at 9 and 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. each day in the University Center's Corwin Pavilion.

Transfer students are encouraged to attend programs specifically designed to address their needs Thursday and Friday at 1 p.m.

Tours of the campus will also be offered, each making stops at classrooms, laboratories, libraries, recreation facilities and residence halls on and off campus.

Visitors even will be allowed to visit some selected classes in progress.

They will also visit the beachside community of Isla Vista which surrounds the campus and serves as home to many of UCSB's 19,000 students.

As they visit various sites, the students will learn more about theuniversity's academic programs, admission requirements, housing and financialaid.

Each of the university's departments will have daily visitation hours Monday through Friday as will each of its three colleges, the College of Creative Studies, the College of Engineering and the College of Letters and Science.

Events begin at 9 a.m. each day.

Reservations are not required.
