UCSB WELCOMES STUDENTS' FAMILIES TO THE SEASIDE CAMPUS

The University of California, Santa Barbara will open its campus to the families of undergraduate students on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 12 and 13, for Parents' Weekend. Faculty, students, and staff will present an eclectic mix of activities to give parents and other family members a glimpse of academic and social life at UCSB.

On Friday, scheduled events include: attending classes with their UCSB student; campus tours and information sesssions with representatives from each of the colleges beginning at 1 p.m.; a preview of the UCSB men's and women's basketball teams from 1:45 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. in the Events Center; a social to meet faculty members and administrators at 4 p.m. at the Faculty Club; and an evening with ComedySportz, an improvisational comedy troupe, at the Isla Vista Theater at 8 p.m. ComedySportz is $6 per person.

On Saturday, scheduled events include: a complimentary continental breakfast in Cheadle Plaza at 9 a.m. hosted by Chancellor Henry T. Yang; special faculty presentations that range in topic from bacterial diseases to television violence from 10 a.m. to noon in Buchanan Hall rooms; and dinner and swing dancing at the Faculty Club beginning at 6:30 p.m. Faculty Club event is $6 per person.
