NASA VAN TO VISIT SANTA BARBARA SCHOOLS

A van packed with astronaut suits and other accouterments of space exploration will be in Santa Barbara next week, Tuesday, Nov. 16, through Friday, Nov. 19. Donald M. Scott, an aerospace education specialist from NASA's Ames Research Center, will present lecture demonstrations on earth and space exploration.

"It's particularly fitting that Scott's visit coincides with National College Week," said Chris Foster, K-14 Academic Outreach Coordinator for UCSB's College of Letters and Science. "Our goal is to encourage children to think big---that there are endless career possibilities to be gained by a college education."

National College Week is part of the U.S. Department of Education's "College Is Possible" campaign, which is aimed at alerting students and parents to the variety of postsecondary institutions and finanical options that are available to young people interested in attending college.

Scott will visit classrooms as well as give presentations. All events are free. For information and reservation, call 893-7970. The schedule for the NASA van visit is:
