The University of California, Santa Barbara begins to bid farewell and future success to one of the last graduating classes of the millennium. Annually, about 3,600 degree candidates participate in ceremonies, which begin this year with the College of Creative Studies (CCS) on Sunday, June 13, at 1 p.m. and close with the Graduate Division on June 20 at 4 p.m.

CCS, the campus' smallest college and unique in the UC system, will hold its graduation in Lotte Lehmann Concert Hall. Established 32 years ago, CCS gives talented, self-directed students an opportunity for independent study with working artists, scientists, critics, and scholars. CCS alumni include Grammy award-winner David Holt and this year's alumnus speaker, New Mexico assistant attorney general Joel Jacobsen.

Gladys Perez Limón, this year's recipient of the Thomas More Storke Award---the highest honor bestowed on a graduating senior at UCSB---and other outstanding students will receive their awards in a ceremony Friday, June 18, at 3:30 p.m. in the University Center's Corwin Pavilion.

On June 19 and 20, exercises organized by college, level of degree, and field of study will be held on the Faculty Club Green for the College of Engineering (COE), the College of Letters and Science (L&S), and the Graduate Division. In a UCSB tradition, Chancellor Henry T. Yang will shake hands with each graduate during the two-hour-long ceremonies that permit degree candidates to be individually recognized. Open to families, friends, and the public, each ceremony will include a graduation address and a student speech. Guest speakers are:
